BERLIN DAY TWO

mercredi 28 mars 2012

THE WAY I MISS BERLIN Since two days, I can't stop looking to my pictures from my trip and smiling like a fool because all the memories. I really miss Berlin. I miss laughing everyday with my school mates, the little cozy hotel, the weather, the people there and of course the city. So today's post is about my second day in Berlin. As you can see with the pictures, the weather was so much better than the first day and I totally felt like I was in summer. I wanted to take off my booties and to exchange it with some sandals and ballerinas. But of course, weather can be so tricky sometimes. You know, you always think the weather is good and you're suddenly with my T-shirt and sandals but at the end of the day, you're starting to feel so sick. Fortunately for me ( but not for some people in my class ) I'm lucky to be ok with my health.

So for this second day, we went to the Reichstag. ( The government parliament ) where we went to see the dome. It's so really beautiful because it was made with glass and we cloud see a big part of Berlin. But to return, it was not great. We had to be controlled. We had to show our bags and our Identity Card or passport. No luck for me, I forgot my card at the hotelso I showed my student card and at I was very lucky because normally I wasn't able to pass!

After the visit, we went for a little walk in the park near the parliament. And guess what? I saw Sarkozy, the president from France. Actually, I didn't really saw him, but I saw lot of police cars around a black Mercedes and my German teacher told me that she saw him inside the car. How cool right?

The weather was so good that we decided to stay a little bit near the river to enjoy some sun. It was so god to feel it on out skin.

In the afternoon, we went to two different museums. The first one was the Pargamon museum, where we can find lot of historical monuments as you can see in the first pictures. It was crazy to see it and say to yourself that those monuments have several years. Have you seen the ''blue'' monument with the lions? can you guess how old it is? More than 5000 years! Crazy right?
The second museum ( which I can't really remember the name ) is the one where we can see Nefertiti's bust. I tried to take a picture of it, but it was impossible. Many securities were looking at us so we couldn't take any picture of it but I have one thing to say: It was beautiful! I love Egyptian culture and seeing it was just incredible!

To end our day, we had some free time and we spent it visiting a little part of the city. But we were too tired to we decided to go to our hotel. At night, we went to a club in Berlin, where we start celebrating the birthdays of two people from my class. It was really good! But the adventure isn't done! ;)

I BELIEVE I CAN FLY

I BELIEVE I CAN TOUCH THE SKY These pictures have been taken on my second day in Berlin. It was just after my visit to the Reichstag ( The government area ) and just a few minutes before I saw the president of France, Sarkozy. Yes, I saw him. Actually, I saw his car but it's kinda the same thing. I'll tell you more about my second day in Berlin. About the pictures, I want to thanks Shona, an amazing friend from my class who took those pics! You can see her in my last two pictures and once again, thank you so much!
About the outfit, I know it's a normal day outfit, but when I travel, I like being comfortable. So I decided to wear my fav' leather jacket from Zara with my brand new booties from H&M. How cute are they? It's like a little touch of Rock&Roll no?

BERLIN: DAY ONE

dimanche 25 mars 2012

ICH BIN EIN BERLINER. Hey dolls! As you can see, I'm finally back from my trip to Berlin and I have only one word to say about this city: WOW. I went three or four years ago there but I couldn't remember that Berlin was so incredible. That's because maybe this time, I was with the right persons so I think it changes the atmosphere. We were lucky, because the weather was really good. Well, maybe not the first day, but the others, I felt like I was in summer! I made more than 500 pictures but unfortunately, I can't put them all here, so I chose some of the greatest to show you all a bit of the beauty and historical background of this wonderful city. Ready? Let's start this first day!

Some of you should probably know this monument. It's the Branderburger Tor. One of the most visited monuments in Berlin. It's located at the west of the city and it's just truly beautiful.

We also went to the Memorial to the murdered Jews in Europe in the Second World War. It's like a labyrinth but with a significance. Every different centimeters' slab represent a murdered Jew and when you look at them, you really feel uncomfortable because theirs colors and their height.

Another historical monument is the Wall of Berlin. Most of you know the story of the Wall but we can't really realize how horrible it has been. But when you see the power of the wall and the height of it you feel like a little child and suddenly realize that people just wanted to see the people they love and they tried crazy things to do just to go to the other part of the city .. Can you realize one day wake up and see a big wall of three meters in front of you?

Then, we made a little stop at a Mall to take some energy and we decided to eat something. It looks so yummy right?

After the Mall and our filled stomaches and went to the Checkpoint Charlie where we visited the Museum to understand a little bit more about the story of the Wall and of course to see some crazy experiances that some people did to see their beloved family on the other side of the city. We also saw a beautiful church near our hotel and as you can see on the pictures, the weather wasn't that good the first day, but fortunately for us, it didn't rain.

At the end of the afternoon, we went to the famous ''Madame Tussauds'' where we could see lot of celebrities made with wax. It was the first time for me and when I saw it, I was like '' Wow, are they true?'' because it looks so real and I was always so afraid that they could suddenly move.

To end of first - long - day in Berlin, we decided to eat at a typical berlin restaurant. The place was so friendly and was situated under a bridge and sometimes we could hear the train. The food was delicious and I couldn't resist to take the ''Curry Wurst'' which is a sausage with curry, a speciality from Berlin. If one day you go to Berlin, I recommend you the ''Nolle'' restaurant.

I hope you liked my first post from Berlin and some more are coming soon! And by the way, I want to thanks Emily for the amazing job she did with the blog while I was in Germany. Have you seen the little changes? The add the ''Instagram'' links!
